Critical to the needs of our Accounting Department, the Tax Manager serves as the company's tax and accounting expert by managing and facilitating federal /state tax compliance and interim/annual tax provisions pursuant to ASC 740.  Working with the Director of Tax and external advisors, the Tax Manager will develop tax strategies and policies that assist DBM Global and its subsidiaries in maintaining compliance with local and federal tax laws and regulations, advising internal customers,  as well as identify  opportunities for tax minimization

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns and other business related filings,
  • Manage annual state income tax compliance including preparation of quarterly estimated state tax payments & extensions; liaise with external advisors
  • Prepare interim and annual tax work-papers for financial reporting.
  • Manage and facilitate information requests for federal, state, and local tax audits.
  • Effectively communicate and resolve all state and local inquiries.
  • Collaborate with business partners to advise on transactions including sales tax implications at project bid.
  • Analyze acquisition costs of current and previous acquisitions for deductibility.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to Director to use to build strategies that capitalize on changes in taxation legislation.
  • Remain current on new tax legislation and tax accounting rules.
  • Provide support and project management for special tax related projects.
  • Support the Tax Director in a number of activities, such as restructuring, tax planning, and M&A.

 

Education/Training

  • Bachelors' Degree in Accounting/Finance. MTax and/or CPA required. 

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a tax manager or public accounting role.
  • Strong analytical and technical tax skills.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ASC 740.
  • Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.

Software & Technology

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Tax Research tools. Familiarity with OneSource tax provision is a plus.
